The house was built in 1908, 1909, according to the project of the active architect of the Petrogradskaya area I. P. Mulhanova. The house style is eclecticism with some modern techniques. Before the Revolution the house belonged to the princes V. P. Obolensky and S.P. Obolensky-Neledinsky-Mielec, who was married Princess Catherine, daughter of Emperor Alexander II. The brothers inherited the house after the death of their father, Platon Sergeevich Obolensky Neledinsky-Mielec, the hero of the Russian-Turkish war of 1877, 1878, awarded for bravery Order of St. Anne's grade IV, Order of St. Stanislaus II degree and the Serbian Order of the Golden Star, the adjutant of the Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich, who was married Konstantinovna Mary, nee Naryshkina.
At various times in house lived: an honorary citizen of the first merchant guild F.A.Alferov (at the beginning of XX century banking house "F.A.Alferov" was one of the largest in Russia), Senator NA Chebyshev, Swiss Georges Gazen (specializing in the sale of chocolate, confectionery, owned several confectioner's shop), engineer A. Leyvand (own factory for the manufacture of elevators in St. Petersburg) and other famous faces.
